Mr.Xu was admitted to the China Bar in 1985. He previously worked at the Law Institute of Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences and Shanghai Municiple government Legal Affairs Department. In 1992, he worked as a visiting scholar at Indiana State University School of Law in the USA.

Mr.Xu is now the vice chairman of Shanghai Bar Association. He was elected as the representative of the 17th Shanghai Municipal People's Congress (SMPC) and the expertise member of legal session of standing committee of SMPC. He has also been appointed an arbitrator of the Shanghai Arbitration Commission.

His areas of expertise include corporate law, contract law, intellectual property rights, arbitration law, real estate, financial regulatory and general commercial matters, and economic crime cases. He has engaged in a great number of cases in commercial sectors and was employed by a lot of companies as their counsels in China. Due to his great contribution to the legal practice in P.R.C., he was awarded 2007 East Barrister in Shanghai, Model Individual by the Ministry of Personnel P.R.C and the Ministry of Justice P.R.C in 2006, and Excellent Lawyer of P.R. C in 2005.

Mr.Xu has published a number of articles and books regarding corporate law and economics law in China, such as Corporate Legal Manual and Elementary Introduction to P.R.C. Economics Law.
